Protect Against Mildew Damage to Your Wall Tent
Wall tents are a an excellent choice for outdoor enthusiasts, whether you’re a hunter, reenactor, or you just enjoy camping. Quality wall tents are usually very durable, and with proper care you consider yours a long-term investment.
If you have ever owned any type of tent, you know that one of the biggest problems tenters face is mildew. Regardless of whether or not canvas wall tents are made with fabric that is designed to be mildew-resistant, mildew will still cause damage if you don’t take precautions.
Mildew damage can start so quickly and inconspicuously, you will have no idea it is happening until it has spread considerably. Most people are aware that storing damp wall tents for any length of time can result in mildew growth, but it can also happen while the tent is set up, often due to no obvious cause.
If you leave your wall tent up for any length of time, be sure to air it out thoroughly on a very regular basis. You should also keep grass or other foliage around the tent’s bottom cut down to reduce moisture and increase airflow to your tent.
If you notice mildew anywhere on your wall tent, dry it thoroughly in the sun. You can then clean it with specially designed mildew cleaner for tents. It may also be a good idea to treat your tent with a water-repellant for canvas tents. With some attention to potential mildew problems, you shouldn’t have any problem keeping your wall tent free of mildew growth and damage.
